We all want to achieve more in our lives. (If you say you don’t, I dare you to take a real honest look at your true motives). And that is a good thing.
Imagine where we would be if the generations before us had said; nah, I think this is good enough.
Now that we have established a clear context where achieving more is generally better, let’s take a quick look at how we can do that.
Most people start of by “trying harder”. This can mean they work longer hours, or focus better while working. (Side note: it might seem like I am only talking about work, that is not the case. The same applies for hobbies, working out, etc). Or they just try to put more effort to it, like pushing a weight.
Have you ever found yourself writing a report with the approach of lifting a heavy object? I have:).
But working harder or more efficiently only goes so far. At some point you need to start delegating. And that might seem easier than it really is. If you have been perfecting your craft and delivering that for clients, it’s surprisingly difficult to give it to someone else.
For some reason it makes you feel useless. At least it does to me. And that is where the real mental shift has to be made. Once you make that shift, it will become easy to delegate tasks and really scale the business. Until then, you will always be looking for reasons to do things yourself.
So how to make the shift? Well, that is something for another time. The process is not easy, but it’s not terribly hard either. And it can be done reliably, no matter who you are or where you come from.
